Weird breeding behavior

My GBRs finally paired up and moved into a cave. They have been really aggressive to everything. The female is plumper and her belly is wayyyy redder. They've been digging and rubbing bodies.

What confuses me is, the female will go over and act like she's laying eggs. And then the male will walk over and act like he's fertilizing. But there's no eggs there......?
 
I think you commented on my ram breeding thread, so you know I'm the last to give advise (with the trouble I've had), but my rams did this twice. Then the third time, the defended the cave like crazy parents, but I still saw no eggs. Fourth time they did their dance, I saw eggs! Unfortunately, they ate them :(. I truly wish you more luck!
