Getting my avatar to fit

I need help getting my new avatar to fit. It's the right pixel size, but it's more than 12 kb's. How can I make it smaller but still keep relatively good quality.

Do you have a photo editing program such as photoshop, Irfanview, etc.?

Drop the save quality slightly. There is no reason for an image the size we premit to be much larger than 12kb unless its saved at its highest possible quality level. You can easly drop the compression level back 10-15% with no visual quality changes.

I use the 'Save for Web' option in Photoshop to optimize my avatar for use here. That made it very easy to create one.
