I had one goldfish (a fantail I believe) that a petstore employee told me was good for a five gallon tank, so he started getting bigger and I moved him into a twenty-nine gallon tank, and got him 3 friends, (One oranda, and two more fantail), but come to find out 29 is way too small, If I got a 55 gallon would that be large enough for them? Does anyone have any pointers on keeping goldies? I have one fish that floats, not all the time but sometimes, and I changed his food to sinking pellets and skinned peas, but he still floats? Is this normal?

No the floating is not normal. It can cause death!! What happens is the food gets stuck in its stomach and the fish can not digest the food because it is to hard. I recommend either softening it, Do this by getting a cup put the pellets in till soft then feed them. Also the sinking pellets are good because when a goldfish goes up for the food the air it draws in kind of inflates it meaning making it go upside down. So stick to sinking pellets. Also 20 gallons for the first fish then 10 gallons for other goldfish. so you can hold up to 2 fish but getting a 55 gallon tank would be just fine!!!! Get a 55 gallon
