This is something I've always been curious about.
I was into steampunk culture for a few years, inspired by the fantastic creations of steampunk craftsmen and the inherent nostalgia of adventure within the culture. It really sparked the creative flame inside me and awoke sort of a sense of... I dunno, just reinvigorated my passion for being me! I helped lead a steampunk-ish club at school and brought a lot the underclassmen into the culture. Now, I'm much more casual with my steampunkery and I only throw on my pocket watch and goggles occasionally. (Wearing a top hat, dress shirt, vest, and large western duster every day got pretty old down here in sunny San Diego) But the creative vibe has really stuck with me. I'm pursuing a degree in art and a minor in biology and I've created numerous pieces, some of which are indeed steampunk, but most of which are from me exploring my imagination.
So that's how being a steampunk helped me figure out who I am.
Your turn.
