My buddy that I got my beautiful festae from has become the first person to successfully breed a pair of imported heroine isonycterina. According to jeff rapps, it was the first time in his 25 years of doing business that he was able to import them. Fry hatched in September and are looking good. I will be picking up mine from him on Sunday.

Congrats on the new fish, I've seen them on Rapps website and your friends threads on other forums. Please don't take this the wrong way, while I appreciate the rarity but they are one of my least favorite genus. There many who disagree with me and I'd love to see you guys spread this fish out to new hobbyist, that's one of the reasons I keep some of the fish on CARES program. Use this as way to improve our hobby, good luck and keep us updated!

Judging by your response HUKIT, i'm gonna assume heroina is similar to heros lol they look quite a bit like severums, beautiful fish and its unbelievably cool to see rare fish get spread out

Yes I agree 150% about getting them out to other aquarists. 5x5 have had this discussion about different cichlid species and my unwillingness to keep them, especially pikes!

I just really like that classic cichlid body shape. Like I said before most people disagree with me and we are all entitled to our opinions, right or wrong in other people's eyes.

Like my wild caught cryptoheros septemfaciatus, there are only 4 people including myself that has this fish currently, they will be spread to local club members when they're ready.

So again don't take my reponses the wrong way, I'm just a stubborn person in general and we could all get in a Pepsi/Coke debate...and yes Pepsi sucks!

Hukit's an old crank when it comes to Severums and Pikes, but I'm working on him. He was razor thin to getting a crenicichla compressiceps!

Very nice fish Cbourg and I agree with everything stated above about the value of rare species in the hobby.

I recently just purchased 6 of the rare Austroheros sp "Oblongum" and am going to make an honest effort to spawn them and share with others.

Maybe in the future if Hukit can repopulate the cryptoheros septemfaciatus species, I'd like to get some. I was eyeing them up in Axelrod last night and they are beautiful.
