Many fish hobbyists become attracted to the idea of obtaining wild caught (F0) or near wlld caught cichlids for a variety of reasons.

I wanted to have a discussion about the pro's and cons of getting into the "F" labeled fish...and no I'm not talking about the nickname HUKIT gives his Festae when she goes on a rampage.

Pros:
Less chance of in-breeding/cross-breeding
A pure specimen and bragging rights to go with it!
The Challenge of a WC fish
Better color in some cases

Cons:
More expensive
More challenging to keep (especially dietary challenges)
Worse color in some cases

Also, while we are at it, let's hear about any prize fish that you've owned with an F0 or F1 label.

Most hobbyist would be happier with tank raised fish.

Most wild caught fish are more prone to being shy and difficult to adjust to prepared foods and generally make poor aquarium fish since they're plucked the wild then shipped thousands of miles off to a breeder/importer then transfered to you...that's alot of stress.

I have dozens of wild caught caught and F1 fish from sajicas, nanoletus, and festae to name a few.

I wonder if my pike is wild caught. I was talking with the LFS and they seem to be under the impression that based on where they ordered the pikes (columbian specialist), they think it's very likely. That would explain the finicky eating, but he doesn't have an ounce of shyness.
