    Keep the test kit in use and go slow. A little patience on the front end of a new tank can save a lot of effort down the road.

    Ok, so you have filter pads that you put in from your other tank? I would say that you can go ahead and add a few hardy fish like glowlights. Just use your test kit to monitor ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate, and be ready to change water if you need to. Those old filter pads should help your tank cycle pretty quick. Remember, take it slow!
