What Did You do With Your Tank Today?

I continued treatment for internal parasites for my fahaka. This is the 3rd day of the 7 day treatment plan. Hopefully this last time will get rid of the worms.

miylee 02-24-2012 08:57 PM

added my 5 laos pygmy multi-striped loaches to my tank =) shy little dudes.. but so darn cute!!!

hope your fahaka gets better soon~

Supra 02-24-2012 09:00 PM

Stared at it, added some more chaeto.

50% water change

Bearchumjs 02-25-2012 12:26 AM

50% water change. Took out my Rotala Indica and trimmed off the flowers and any yucky looking parts and then put it back in.

Mlani 02-25-2012 12:46 AM

25% pwc on both my tanks. Rinsed out filters in the old tank water. Petted my discus and parrots (they eat from my hands and like the luvin) watched both tanks for over an hour each.

Athaocity 02-25-2012 01:49 AM

Water change all three of my tanks and added a betta into my 20l, he is now living with real companions for the first time since i have had him for like 2 months

Gboy66 02-25-2012 02:05 AM

Freaked out and cussed when the peacock eel mistook my finger for a bloodworm...

sniperfreak 02-25-2012 09:28 AM

added more plants, half a dozen cardinal tetras, and switched my filter media from activated carbon to peat granules.

Terrance 02-25-2012 04:43 PM

50% water change for my 120g. Will do 50% water change for my 20g pretty soon.

Jason7894561230 02-25-2012 04:58 PM

um.... ive watched them. Then again its only 9.00 AM in Australia :D

Bearchumjs 02-25-2012 04:58 PM

Today I did a 75% water change. My ammo was 0 but trites were 1ppm. (5gallon tank). Then I messed with the plants some more. They are starting to grow roots. Yay! I've been watching king Neptune (betta) swim around. He likes his new bigger home. Quite an upgrade from a 1/2 gallon bowl. :)

Mlani 02-25-2012 09:29 PM

Did another 25% pwc on my 65 gal and added 5 glow light tetras, 5 cardinals and 5 harlequin rasboras to my 80 gal.

Digger 02-25-2012 09:36 PM

Bought the PVC to build the overflow to get started on my 125 gal FOWLR tank.

GodFan 02-25-2012 10:32 PM

Added Duckweed and looked at em.

Fishie 02-25-2012 10:40 PM

Did 3 20% PWCs today :D made electro yellow lab fry bowl:0

foster53 02-25-2012 11:17 PM

Did a 75% WC on the 125. Moved some Wonga Creek Trifasciata to the display tanks, cleaned 2 canister filters. Then I took a nap:lol:

George9 02-25-2012 11:48 PM

50% pwc yesterday and added flourish today. Also checked on the ick situation to see how it going.

savage 02-25-2012 11:55 PM

50% water changes on all five. New lid, changed the lighting and added an anubias to the 20g. Added six hatchets to my 55g and spent 3hrs watching one of my Julii's lay eggs. Bummer that the tank-mates were grabbing them faster than she could lay them, but was still an incredible thing to watch! Good day!

Starka 02-26-2012 01:12 AM

Did PWC on my four tanks in my room, switched fry from 15 gal to 5 gal, tried to take pics of my guppies failed I guess they where not photogentic today, grabbed another butterfly koi at the lfs, took some pics of my ram and platies, set up a small cave for the koi, and stared at my Assasin snail slowly grab a flake to munch on.
Busy day! Tomorrow the other two tanks. Most likely to spending 30mins trying to find my 4 ghost shrimp so that they don't get sucked out of the tank when doing a pwc.

Mumma.of.two 02-26-2012 02:46 AM

Got home from 4 days away, rushed in, did a head count and fed everyone. :D

Yay you're back!! :-D

I did a very super through gravel vacc on my 29g & 60% PWC, bought plant bulbs, bought small plant, planted it... LOL, watched everyone, put up 4 Juvie mollies on craigslist...

cheeky_monkey 02-26-2012 04:48 AM

Back to back 80% PWC on my fry tank after a huge nitrite spike. Eek, all good now.

Broke down and emptied a 55g ready for moving after selling the fish. Found 7 fry living in the canister filter!

Oh and I did the obligatory sit and watch all the tanks for a few hours hah.

Bearchumjs 02-26-2012 07:57 PM

I started off doing a 50% water change but it turned into a tank overhaul. My 5 year old stuck the siphon down into the sand and sucked some out so I had to remove all the pebbles and redo the sand, then add back in the pebbles and plants. It was a 90% water change by the time I was finished. Then I watched king Neptune swim around rather unhappily because his water was cloudy from the sand. At least it's clearing up pretty quickly.

Jess1ca 02-27-2012 11:49 PM

50% wc installed new filter, added more seeded material, woo hoo!

Bearchumjs 02-28-2012 01:12 AM

50% wc and got impatient waiting for my driftwood to sink so I anchored it a weight. Rearranged my plants. Here's the end result.

Anchored it with a rock... Excuse the above typo.

Lovin Fish 02-28-2012 11:58 PM

Did my usual am headcount...and a bulb died during the count. So, I spent most my day driving from store to store searching for a replacement bulb. Never found one! By the time I got home, my fish tank is sleeping :ermm: So I feel irritated I didn't get a chance to enjoy my babies today! So, now I'm online about to order one (and a few extras ;))

awilson133 02-29-2012 12:09 AM

trimmed my swords in my 29g. then changed the background to black in my 55g!

Bearchumjs 02-29-2012 07:28 AM

Yesterday I did back to back 50% pwc's. Nitrites were 2.0! Then I cleaned a lava rock to put hold down my driftwood instead of that other rock I was using. Last night I watched king Neptune fighting with his reflection in the glass. He was really going at it!!

Spent a lot of time watching my female guppies who look like they're about to pop! Moved a white cloud to a different tank because she has been "it" during tag for quite a few days now. :(

animalzrok2 02-29-2012 08:20 PM

worked on my new stand :)

MartyMA 02-29-2012 08:44 PM

Cleaned all of the filter media for the very first time (rinsed in a bucket of tank water, of course). Freaked out about the 'dust' floating around in the tank so figured it was because the pre-filter got clogged. Took it off for now just to clear everything up. Found everybody safe and sound. Blew kisses to all and the timer shut off the light. I am so glad I have returned to fishkeeping. I really missed it.:jump:

Alyxx 03-04-2012 01:28 AM

Did a 110% water change on my 5 gallon, a 50% on my 20 gallon, and a 50% on my 30 gallon. Rearranged stuff in all the tanks and cleaned the glass inside and out on all three. Cleaned up the cabinet in the 20's stand too.
And now, because the cat "missed" her litter box as I was standing less than a foot away working on the 30, it's time to change litter instead of water... Stupid cat.

paytertot 03-04-2012 01:40 AM

Did my weekly 60% water change, propagated a plant, fed my fish some peas, and stared at them. Lol

Bearchumjs 03-04-2012 01:45 AM

I did a 50% pwc and then fed the fish. Then one of my kids distracted me while the other grabbed the food and started dropping tons in. It's like they had it all planned out! Then I had to do ANOTHER 50% change so I could suck out all the food and in the process I knocked the lava rock off the driftwood which then floated to the top and uprooted my poor little plants... It was a disaster. I got it all put back together and king Neptune is no worse for wear.

The moral of this story: never take your eyes off the food until it is safely in the cabinet where mischievous little fingers cant reach it.

Or the gravel vac or bucket or prime or ferts or lids/hood or anything in the general area! Lol.

I did absolutely nothing to my tanks today. Didn't even feed the fish (fast day).

Terrance 03-04-2012 02:11 AM

Today was my 50-60% water change for my 120g and 20g. Fed both my fish. Everyone doing well. Cleaning out the FX5 was a long process, but the sponges collected a lot of small waste.

senemedar 03-04-2012 06:37 AM

Absolutely nothing :D No - sorry - I'd turned the lights on :D
After last three days of 50% water changes to get the nitrates down me and my fishes deserve a little bit of quiet time ;)

Mab2000 03-04-2012 07:57 AM

I added some Aponogeton bulbs. Hope they work this time.

animalzrok2 03-04-2012 04:36 PM

picked up my 120g upgrade for my turtle, continued to work on my stand, finished cycling my 2.5g, water changes, and gathered my newborn guppy fry. :) good day!

Nu-Nu the eel 03-04-2012 04:39 PM

Added a porky, an 3 chromes with a 10% water change on my 125 forgot to make water :( So that's what I'm doing now

Ibrahim 03-04-2012 07:49 PM

Re-did my aquascape on my 4g, and topped of my 150g.

Alyxx 03-04-2012 07:56 PM

I discovered the light on my 30 is being temperamental. Figures the only tank I have real plants in would be the only one with light problems.

I managed to get it on. The little switch was sticking...

Tcal01 03-04-2012 11:24 PM

It was pwc day today. I just bought some ludwigia repens too yay!!!

VioletEmber 03-05-2012 10:38 AM

Today my goal is to try to figure out how to tell my 4 yr old that the common goldfish he won at a school carnival (grrrrrr) - already named "cute cupcake" - is going to have to go live somewhere else. No room in our 2 bedroom apartment for a 100g tank or a pond!

Water 03-05-2012 12:58 PM

I added an HOB on the 50 gallon and put in a 50/50 bulb on the 75 gallon.

Bearchumjs 03-05-2012 05:14 PM

I just stirred up the gravel half of my aquarium and did a 100% water change, wiped off the inside of the glass, re-tied the plants to the drift wood and cleaned the algae off my fluval chi lights with a pipe cleaner. I hate how they get algae on them. It makes the water look yellows green. I also had to to wipe some algae off of one of my Anubias. It came with algae on it. It's looking better. My nitrites seemed a little lower today (about 1.5 instead of 2.0) Hopefully the tank is almost done cycling.

Tetra123 03-05-2012 05:28 PM

Grabbed a chair put it infront of my tank and watched my fishies swim by.

Wy Renegade 03-05-2012 05:35 PM

Just finished reassembling my Dual 150w MH Current fixture for my 65gal saltwater tank. Tore the whole thing down, cleaned it, replaced the stock fans (one of which had gone bad), added a third fan to move air out the top of the fixture and reassembled. Up and running as we speak ;).

jkdubs2 03-05-2012 05:44 PM

I sat watching the single fish in my 55g planted swim around and explore while waiting for the tank to cycle with some established filter media. Prolly gonna clean the filter media of my 20g planted after another half hour of watching my tank lol.

Water 03-05-2012 07:42 PM

Set up the 20 gallon for the bunch of fry my Phenochilous spit out. :fish2:

Jill 03-05-2012 07:49 PM

Caught 5 guppy fry and put them into a make-shift tank. Dosed salt in my new tank and my guppy tank. Finally bought the waterbed adapter thingy for my diy python, and I'll be doing water changes on all tanks tonight. Oh yeah, and I'm on my way out the door to get some moss and a sponge filter (or materials to MAKE a sponge filter) for the fry. Busy fishy day in Nashville. :fish2:

Mlani 03-06-2012 12:36 AM

Pwc X 2, stuffed all my filters with floss, I'm really liking the effect it has on water clarity. Rearranged my 65 took everything out, crunched a bunch of snails(sorry snail lovers) added more plants and a tonne of new hiding spots. As always sat and watched all my tanks for most of the day/night.

Alyxx 03-06-2012 12:38 AM

Turned on all the lights and left the house, lol. I did get more pwc buckets though. I'm about to feed some bloodworms and maybe a shrimp.

Mumma.of.two 03-06-2012 12:45 AM

Set up a 2.5g with a mystery snail and ramshorns for my 3yo daughter. She decorated it. :)

Bubbles0oO 03-06-2012 04:17 PM

in my 55 g i stalked and fantasized, in my 16 gal i did anohter treatment for my algea blood ( so murkey i cant see the mirror behind the tank)

Athaocity 03-08-2012 04:34 AM

Helped my bro re set up his 29 gal. Taught him about fish less cycle and he is impatient now.

Malawi Freak 03-08-2012 07:45 AM

Yesterday I moved some yellow labs back into the main tank. Fighting continues between 2 males. Sigh. Added some more anubias to the main tank. Moved the new ps. Saulosi into QT and then proceeded to spend hours searching for some new tanks.

Tonight is water change night. Also gonna clean some more rocks for the new saulosi to try and get them breeding, and gotta clean the filters. I wish I could say I was assembling my sump but I'm playing the waiting game for my mag-drive 1800gph and eshopps 1200 overflow to come in.

sniperfreak 03-08-2012 05:31 PM

Freaked out (in a good way :) ) when I realized my Bolivian Rams had spawned while I was at work and are now diligently guarding their eggs...will try to get a pic, but they chose a rock that is mostly hidden from view by driftwood, so I can't get a good shot.

Bubbles0oO 03-08-2012 05:47 PM

today i set up a fry/ mystery snail breeding tank!

i made a sponge filter

i watched some fry be born (NEVER gets old :D )

laughed at my current mystery snail when he tried to get on a shrimp

Alkane 03-08-2012 06:23 PM

Did a water change in daphina tank all of my fish and frogs got a big treat. nom nom nom

Jill 03-08-2012 06:31 PM

Caught some fry babies in my mama tank and put mama into breeding net. She had 15 or so more in the net later. THEN we saw several babies swimming around the tank, and thought....wth? How are they getting out of the net? Then my 9 year old says, "I'll bet the other guppy is having babies!" Sure enough. Switched out mamas in breeding net for MORE babies....lol. :D

Malawi Freak 03-08-2012 07:12 PM

Ended up adding some java fern to the tank today. Cleaned out the fluval 305 good. Picking up some holey rock tomorrow for the Pseudotropheus saulosi and maybe add a disco ball for them and some mood lighting so they can get to the baby makin!

LOL! They make those for tanks now. I saw them at Big ALS, disco balls for the tank! I'm going to think of you now every time I see them.

I did my pwc and watched them for hours. My regular routine ;-)

I just fed my puffs. As i was taking away the food and out of the water (done feeding), my turgidus puffer came up and took a bite of the air in attempt to eat more. Surprised the heck out of me. He made a loud teeth smacking noise lol. Very scary for a 3.5" fish.

I can hear my GSP's crunching food, and sometimes the air when they are waiting impatiently for food, and it is scary. And adorable at the same time. I didn't do anything with my tanks today.

Alkane 03-10-2012 10:32 AM

Have you puffer people ever been bitten?>

Terrance 03-10-2012 11:13 AM

Yes plenty of people has been bitten. When it happens, the keeper bled a lot and required stitching. Puffers get too excited during feeding.

Water 03-10-2012 11:22 AM

Nothing yet but theres lots to do.

alLexX 03-10-2012 12:06 PM
