Did a 75% water change for the self-cloning crayfish tank.
Trying to come up with the funds to buy DIY LED for reef tank.

Watch the Seattle Seahawks lose. Now studying for class.

I do the same thing. After 10 hrs of work there's nothing more relaxing than sitting in front of my tanks for a couple hours. Who needs tv right?

Sadly I woke up to my large blue legged hermit dead :'( poor fella has been in my reef for almost a year and a half.

I hope im getting the best opportunity I've gotten a long time! this lady I just met up off of Craigslist I sold my fish to is offering me a trade. Exactly! They are all running now.

aaronjohn20 12-01-2012 11:12 AM

Fed my 46g bf friends this morning, then planning on doing tank maintnence to all 4 tanks today. While looking in on them I found my wifes GBR dead. She's not gonna be happy

Samzter 12-01-2012 01:27 PM

Added two bristle nose plecos! Adorable guys! Been medicating the tank andthen tomorrow is water change day!

Oceangirl 12-01-2012 01:37 PM

I got 5 galaxy rasboras! They only had 6 but the 6th didn't look good. They are currently acclimating them. I know they should only be purchased for breeding, but this store is a LFS, and didn't realize what they had.

NexVobis 12-01-2012 01:40 PM

Added two bronze wendtii and relocated a floating anubia frazeri

Tetra1990 12-01-2012 04:12 PM

Finally found more Bolivian rams in my area, had to get another. Also got more driftwood for my future crawfish tank. Time to boil!

Terrance 12-01-2012 08:36 PM

I was looking for inhabitants for my 46g at the LFS. Got a good pic of a sleeping green spotted puffer. Tail curled up :)

I weighted mine down with river rocks. I know some people use stainless steel screws and bury that in the sand

bigbanker 12-01-2012 10:53 PM

Picked up my 150g tank (which is now cracked).

Looked at the wiring on the stand, and selected a new paint color for the stand as well.

Working on rescaping my angel L.A.'s tank... he does a great job of keeping guppy population in control !

Alyxx 12-01-2012 10:58 PM

I did my water changes yesterday and today everyone got frozen food and veggies.

kjacks 12-02-2012 12:02 AM

Bought some supplies for the 10g that i had ran out of .. picked up a FREE 60g tank that has alot of wear n tear but seems to not leak so need to do some minor work so its pleasing to the eye. Gotta decide if i want another tank or store it n keep as a spare in case my 55g gets a leak or need to rehome some inhabitants due to aggression ..decisions decisions.. :)

Wiggles24 12-02-2012 03:00 AM

Received my new baby in the mail today, a long finned calico bristle nosed pleco! Soooo cute:)

San Raphael Catfish 12-02-2012 03:36 AM

Working on more DIY live rock. Full water change in plastic tote where they are curing.

Alyxx 12-02-2012 05:24 AM

I discovered that my bristlenose plecos have laid eggs! Daddy is hard at work fanning away at them. I'm so excited! And I guess that "spare" tank may not sit empty much longer... If this becomes a regular occurrence I'm going to need a fry tank!

shellyx 12-02-2012 08:01 AM

Got up this morning too find my albino corie trapped in my vegi clip, it had closed shut when the food broke off. His gills were all torn up & he couldn't swim had to euthanize him. I'm devastated feel it's my fault had this wee guy since he was a baby. Won't be using them again :-(

Tetra1990 12-02-2012 02:49 PM

Well, boiling my new driftwood got the axe today from my mom. She says that it's making the house too hot. So it's on to plan B. Just soaking it on a bucket. But my new Bolivian ram is doing good. No real aggression from the other ram in the tank. Rescaped everything.

Watched jewel tank from across room (won't come out if am near since the tank overhaul)
Fed tanks and noticed the female (crater) isn't eating. Wound might have affected ability.... won't let me see her up close....hides if I stand up. Worried over her.

Played with my camera trying to take pictures of them and uploading. Still working on this.

Water changes, then I fully stocked both of my 10 gallons. In total, I added 5 neon tetras, 4 albino bronze cory's, and 5 kuhli loaches.

oh, and I bought a bunch of plants, too. I don't remember what they're called and I don't wanna rummage the trash to find out.

My two kitchen tanks are now wondrous to look at.

chbix 12-02-2012 07:42 PM

Let the sand settle....then stired it up again to even out the sand bed....do you guys run your return pumps and and overflows while the Sand is settling? I don't want the dust getting on all the equipment in my sump..... The tank is already going to need a cleaning when it's done settling

Hello j...

Aquarium fish can easily manage without food for a couple of weeks. When I go on vacation, I feed a little more often for a couple of weeks before I leave. A couple days prior, I stop feeding and do a little larger than normal water change. The fish spend the time foraging for any leftovers and I come home to a clean tank.

Thanks for the advice guys!! I will be out of town for about 3 weeks. I have the feeder set to feed very small amounts(not anywhere near how much I usually feed) once a day. I have shrimp, cories, and snails that are a good cleaning crew. So hopefully that will be okay?

Cleaned rocks, vacuumed sand, 25% pwc, rearranged some stuff but still keeping same layout. Must have either hurt/stressed out my baby clown pleco during the rock moving. I found it dead a little while ago. Haven't lost one lately so it is very sad.

Everything else is doing great. Plants going crazy, eel becoming huge, knife "Sylphs" putting on their show, pictus cat spazzing around.

I took off the lt blue paint and still need to remove some from the tubes. Want to paint it black in back.

Next acquisition: new lights. The knife fish like it dim on one side, and I am wringing the last bit of use from the light that was on the 29 I took down about a month ago.

Yea it is a pain. Shouldn't be bad with a 10 though. My timing to do my 125 couldn't have been worse. About a week after I changed it one of the corner seams had a complete blow out. So I get a call at work from the wife telling me my tank is flooding the house. So had to completely empty it again to take the tank apart and reseal it.

Tetra1990 12-06-2012 06:14 PM

This happened last night. My new Bolivian ram is learning to eat flakes. Added it last Saturday and the resident black skirt tetras have taken it under their wing, they are inseparable. The ram will rise almost to the surface and catch all the falling flakes. The surface is a bit wild with the Rasboras and black skirts. But I bet it's only a matter of time before it will be joining the fray at the surface. As for my other Bolivian ram, no interest in flakes what so ever.

Not my favorite but the closest. My favorite is 20 miles each way. So I only go when I really need to. My only other option is a petco about 15 min away but their aquatic dept is really lacking in selection quality and knowledge. I liked this one though cus the owner was really knowledgable about all animals and made sure her employees knew their stuff too. Kinda of small selection wise but still a great store. Sad to see it go. I'm thinking about going in tomorrow night and making an offer on their remaining plants. I'm thinking ill take the lot for 10 or less

Munchie 12-09-2012 06:24 PM

PWC as well as a background switch..4 backgrounds later I am happy..my fish are too.

Started off by putting a mirror back on my 100 gallon. The 6" flowerhorn was not happy at all! Had to swap it out for a plain black one to prevent any head injuries..

50% clean, algae scrub & rinsed my filter media on my elephant nose tank :-)

75% pwc on my 125 Malawi. I do 2 50% a week on my 125 but when I fed them this morning the water smelled terrible. Not to sure why, I tested all parameters and everything was fine. Added four kuhlis to my bettas 16gallon, after 10minutes had to save them my betta thought they were lunch! So I put them in my elephant nose tank who is leaving them alone :)

Made the decision to cut back on the 29 gallon feedings to Mon, Wed and Fri. I will win this war against the MTS that have taken over!!

Found one of my self-cloning crayfish crawling on the floor. I need to seal up all the exit points!

Now just sitting in front of my fireplace (yes very warm) with a hot cup of Frappucino and all my tanks :)

Last night I power cleaned my 10G walstad, and did water changes on all my other tanks. I actually retired my 5.5G as well, and sold the gear to my little sister. With the addition of the 46G, I just didn't wanna hit 5 tanks. I don't wanna be crazy fish dude, you know?

There's nothing wrong with that at all. =)

I just wanted to cut down on maintenance. Plus, I don't have a truly good place to put the 5 gallon, and my sister did just buy another betta so she needed a home for it. =)

Also, added 2 large clay pots to my 46G so that my firemouths will have a place to hide when they mature. Wanna get it in there now so they grow into it. =)

This tank is presently stocked with two bristlenose plecos, presumably male duie to them fighting for territory briefly upon introduction. And I have a single firemouth of unknown gender there as well. I am going to breed the firemouths at some point so I want a breeding pair... stores will give me instore credit for babies and juvies.

Screw that, man. 50W fluval heater, an aquaclear 30, and a 5 gallon aquarium with hood for 25 man. The only provisio was she had to take my female betta off my hands. I have nowhere reasonably good to house her.

I technically paid 300 for my brothers 72 bow. With all the SW equipment. Skimmers and pumps and what not. But it was payment for replacing the clutch is his impreza wrx. I think only parents give stuff away for free. Family gets discount but not free lol.

Yeah, exactly. I couldn't just give her 100$ worth of stuff, but at 75% off? My conscience is clean. She's my kid sister, I'll gladly do anything for her, but I can't just lose 100$. :\

(especially when I just spent 500$ or so on the replacement tank, gotta recoup somehow)

Just added my new nexx filtration, and am already loving the results. Now to add shelving to my cabinet.
