NEW tank help

someone has given me a new tank with better filter system etc...
my old tank has i small not major leak so would like to know what the quickest way to transfer my fish into the new tank would be?

Just transfer substrate decor etc. I would save about half of the old tank water and put it in the new tank. Fill it up and add dechlorinator. Get new filter running. Wait about 10 minutes for water to clear up and temperature to adjust. Add old filter and fish. After about 2 weeks you can take off the.old filter if you don't want it anymore.

Yeah but adding the old filter is a must because it will instantly cycle your new tank.
