I have personally noticed better coral growth and happiness dosing a bit of trace elements on the weekends I don't do PWCs. This is just IMO, I get free kent marine products so why not :)

yea you want to fasten the coral to a small chunk of LR then epoxy that to your reef. I use the aquarium safe marine epoxy that is green with the white core and dries white on your reef. SPS corals...

I would keep him with some moderate-high lighting with some good flow as melosu suggested. These corals are like weeds, leave it where it is at the very least and aim a pw in its direction.
