Welcome... IMO, for fish only, instant ocean works fine. You don't really need to worry about the levels of calcium, strontium, etc. That's why most people with extensive reefs use more expensive...

Are they submersible pumps with that model? Ours always sits completely submerged in water. It is made to be used that way. But our octopus is an in sump skimmer.
