I think the filter was off all night!! Cleaned it last night before bed. I have power bar behind the filter to plug everything. I think when I pushed the filter back I pushed the power button off...

It should be fine. Just make sure you have lots if ricks and caves (or a place for the cichilids to hide). Do some research and find out more about how to set up the tank.

IDK I've had parrot cichilids and tiger barbs together. Never had a bala due to how big they get. I would still recommend a few more tiger barbs.

IMO and experience with tiger barbs if you have a big enough school they will stick to themselves. That's why I recommend having 10. They will create their own pecking order and only "fight" one...

I would say no. What kind of Plecos? You could have one smaller variety (clown or bristlenose). I think rainbow shark will get too big for your tank. The other fish should be fine although angels...

Well I guess I had a mean, hungry bunch...lol..because within 2 hours of putting 8 neons in my tank my 6 tiger barbs had ripped them to shreds!

Haha well good thing :P. Yes an assassin snail is fine. Clown loaches are all cute and small when you first buy them, but grow very fast and have a big bio load. As well they don't like to be alone...

I've always had gravel. I have java ferns and moss. Sword plants and one more but I'm not sure of the name. I use Seachem root tabs and flourish when I do pwc.
