Kinda weird that the Amanos keep jumping. Have you tested nitrates? I really can't see why they keep trying to leave the tank unless there is unfavorable conditions.

I usually do between 40-50%. It really depends on what you think your tank needs, but 40-50% should be good in most cases.

Jack, just my experience, but I've never been able to keep a tank at 8 hours of light with out algae issues. You might wanna kick it down to 6 hours.

You can also spot treat most algae with excel...

Put your diffuser as close to the outflow as possible. Even with larger bubbles, as long as they are making contact with the the water for as long as possible, you should see good results.
