I'm helping out a friend set up a new aquarium. It is a ten gallon tank. She has had fish before but had gotten rid of them for a while. Since we're a few hours apart, I'm trying to help get it set...

It didn't have any effect on my BB! My only complaint about it was I had to crush it up a lot, otherwise it sank to the bottom and my shrimp got to it and ran off with it before my fish could get any.

Jetajockey shipped me some great java moss as well as some RCS, they were all in great shape when they arrived even with 90+ temps. He's given me a lot of great info as well! Highly recommended!

You need a heater for any tropical fish, including glofish. Fish need a pretty constant temperature and without a heater you won't get that.

I'd say do another pwc. Your test kit only shows the levels up to a certain point, even if they are much higher. Your levels must have just been really high.

5.0 is correct. I think I dosed ammonia a little higher than normal yesterday afternoon. Will just add 1 ppm of ammonia then and hope nitrites come down soon!

Nitrites are higher than 5.0 ppm tonight. Would out be best to still redose ammonia, give it a night off, or do a pwc and then redose?
