Heater for 10 gallon
Not sure if this is cheap enough but I've had no complaints with my fluval heaters. It constantly keeps my 10 gallon at 78 degrees- abrinn23

Try cleaning out the impeller that could fix the grinding. And BGKs are very intolerant of ammonia levels. I would do a 50% water change to be on the safe side- abrinn23
