    First ever tank + aquascape

That makes a lot of sense - thanks for all the knowledge, it helps more than you know! I'm just re-reading the fishless cycle guide now, then I'll probably do a nice big water change to lose some of the tannins that are in the water (yay bogwood) and then get started on cycling the tank. :)

    First ever tank + aquascape

Ah so that's what melt means - I always just thought they'd actually melt from the heat of the water or something lol. I'd only ever heard of this process as converting from immersed to submerged state, but that males a lot of sense! As for the background - I was initially planning to get a...

Thanks! Kinda tempted to get more plants, but I probably just need to be patient haha.

    First ever tank + aquascape

So I just finished setting up my first ever tank and tried my hand at creating something of an aquascape. Currently there are no lights, but I ordered 2 Lumini Asta 120 which will arrive tomorrow so hopefully I can get some better shots once those are in place. I had a twinstar 900EA, but...

    Setting up first tank

Yeah I talked to the owner of another LFS today and he said there's plenty of stuff other than chlorine/chloramine that gets treated.by the conditioner, so I just took some today,. it's not that expensive on the end - can't hurt.

    Setting up first tank

Hmm so I've searched around a bit and the only thing I could find on the contents of the water is on this page: https://www.waternet.nl/service-en-contact/drinkwater/waterkwaliteit/. It is in dutch but there is a table there which contains all the data. The columns are: - What did we measure -...

    substrate nutrients using media bags?

I've been watching a ton of his videos as well - I'm looking to somewhat mimic his african river tank, I really love the look of that one. He takes the same approach in that build with the filter media bags, so I intend to do the same as well.

    Setting up first tank

Oh also: I live in the Netherlands and there is no chlorine in the water here (according to my LFS) - is there any other treatment I should do regardless for my water? I have yet to test my water (but I have a testing kit already).

    Setting up first tank

Hey all, been lurking on the forums for a little while now and I've slowly been progressing to getting my first tank set up. The past week I've spent time designing and building an aquarium stand which is pretty much done and my aquarium should be arriving for pick-up at the shop either tomorrow...

    [EU] What aquarium to buy?

So I went for a little tour today, one shop had the Oase Scaperline 600 available for which I could order just the aquariums without the stand, so I decided to downscale slightly from my desired 120 since the options I could find for that size typically came with rather flimsy tops and stuff...

    [EU] What aquarium to buy?

Cool! If Saturday's road trip does not result in me getting a tank I'll likely just go through with the order of the ILA, but since I have ~1.5 week off at the end of the month before I start a new job, I was hoping to make plenty of time for scaping and starting this tank. We're gonna see :)

    [EU] What aquarium to buy?

I got into contact with them, the delivery time is about 4-5 weeks it seems, due to a worldwide glass shortage. :/ I'm gonna have a drive around on Saturday to see if I can find a nice 120cm tank anywhere around - there's a couple of stores around I could try. Wish me luck! :D

    o/

That makes sense! I intend to start fishless anyway, so by the time I add fish I should only have to do like 25% or so water changes. :)

    o/

That makes sense! I was just wondering if you have to do a water change, cause ideally I'd just attach a hose to my tap and do it that way, rather than putting water in a bucket and conditioning it. I'll have to look a bit more into the specifics of water changes :)
