    55 stocking- single species

There are a few puffers that I've seen called spotted including the one I have which is a Solandri. Puffers are the reason I set up my tank and I absolutely adore mine. She does have a ton of personality, eats well, and does great with her tankmates. She was a little shy the first couple days...

    ID game

Thats correct, Green Mandarin (Synchiropus splendidus). Beautiful fish but usually difficult to keep due to its feeding habits. I hope to try one one day. http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=15+1635+551&pcatid=551

Thoughts on buying a water changer

I use one as well for my 60g. I use it to drain from my tank during water changes but I can't fill back up from the faucet since my tank is saltwater. However, I do use it to fill back up by connecting it to a pump that stays in the tub that holds my new water. Also, I've found that the water...

    Unknown starfish?

Either a brittle starfish or serpent starfish. I can't see the legs clearly enough to be able to completely narrow it down. The brittle starfish will have hairlike protrusions all over the legs while the serpents legs will be more smooth. They make a good part of the CUC but do usually stay...

    New 55g tank

It will settle down. My tank clouded up too even after rinsing the sand numerous times, its inevitable it seems. Mine was clear by the next day. I added a HOB filter I had laying around with filter floss ( I believe it was) just to speed things up.

    Lobo's..who's got them?

I've got one This is the WYSIWYG photo from the store I ordered mine from, much better photo than I can get. Photo taken from my tank I like the lobos but prefer trachys when it comes to brain corals. I wish I had a larger sandbed to have space for more of all :)

    Got puffers $5.99 e/a

Are they still in freshwater? I'm assuming because if your tankmate choice. Though I could be mistaken as I'm not too familiar with freshwater fish. A lot of puffers to not do well with tankmates, one if those is GSPs. They're usually aggressive. Sorry for your loss.

    Fish showcase thread!

Love my puffer, newest addition to my tank and the reason I got into this hobby Sleeping Love my wrasse too, he's so colorful. Excuse the quality, he's hard to photograph as he doesn't like to sit still

    In Sump Skimmer Reccomendations

Thanks for the reply. Ah yeah, I had forgot about footprint. I meant to mention that as well, I was just trying to take that into account too since it hadn't came to mind when I first began looking at skimmers. This is my sump/fuge, came new with the 90g, used, I purchased from Craigslist...

    In Sump Skimmer Reccomendations

I have been really happy with the HOB Reef Octopus I am currently running on my 60g (as mentioned in my last post, apparently I was typing when you post when through ). I had looked into others besides the Reef Octopus, comparing prices and all. I was thinking initially that the one I...

    In Sump Skimmer Reccomendations

No problem, I'm not really sure what the difference is between the two right off other than the rating I noticed. I may need to look more into that one, especially if it could be discounted. That I do know. The skimmer I'm using on my 60g currently is rated at 100g according to them, I've seen...

    In Sump Skimmer Reccomendations

Thanks for the quick reply! Happy to hear a good review about the Bubble Magnus. I wasn't exactly set on purchasing off of Ebay, just used that for a link. I did actually see the group buy and was wondering whether a skimmer would be discounted or not. BRS does not have the particular skimmer...

    Amanda's 90g Reef (upgrade)

One drain and one return. Here are a few pictures of the overflow. Excuse the quality. It is difficult to get photos where the tank is set up currently, I had to lighten it up quite a bit on photobucket just so it was visible. Overflow assembled Overflow with drain pipe disassembled...
