If he’s trying to buy it from you, it’s because he knows crazing of acrylic is a normal thing. Most likely your tank is going to hold water just fine. I’ve bought, sold and/or installed hundreds of acrylic tanks since going into business 30 years ago. Don’t give up on it. Use it. Dick

I believe the Purigen is not the problem. A few questions... What size tank? How long has your tank been set up? What type filtration are you using? What testing are you doing? What are your water parameters? I might be able to answer better after knowing the above. Dick

It’s been 5 days since you posted this question and no one has responded. Hmmmm! From what you posted, if it were me, I would make a transfer to the ten gallon and do your thorough cleaning, if that’s your goal. Be aware that you will likely have a cycle when the “clean” tank is set back up. Dick

I’ve used various sized Mag pumps both externally and submerged for many years without noticing any drop in efficiency. My only complaint with Mags is the energy they consume.

If your Mag 9.5 is used submerged it will heat the water. Nice things about Mag pumps is they can be used external too, reducing the chance of heating the water. Dick
