Hi Jsoong,
Thank you very much for your help. Unfortunately he passed away last nite before I could treat him with any medication. He was already dead when I saw him.
I aprreciate your help and time.
Many thanks and all the best.
Salt Treatment
Hi Jsoong,
Thanks for the advice.
He's seems to be getting worse as was sitting at the bottom of the tank doing nothing and he's normally always very acctive and looking for food in the gravel.
I have cleaned the gravel to make sure that the water is clean and did a 30 %...
Hi Guys,
I'm just wondering if anyone can give me an idea of how to treat a fish with salt. He's a goldfish and has been feeling a bit lethargic and his poop has been thin and white for the last couple of days so I think he's got a bacterial infection and today I spotted a tiny hole in his back...
Thanks Jsoong,
I know many people won't shell out a lot of money on vet fees to save a $2 fish, but I think the least we can do for them is try to be there when they need us as they don't choose to stay in a fishtank in our house because it's better for them, but it's because of us that...
Hi Jsoong,
I just wanted to let you know that sadly he passed away this morning. I feel so bad for the poor guy. I called the vet on Monday when I saw his scales raised and he wasn't eating and just sitting at the bottom of the tank and she was getting some antibiotics ready for me to pick up...
Thanks for the quick reply Jsoong.
The epsom salts will be the next thing I try then. I will try single grain of salt in a piece of pea and keep monitoring to see how he/she does. I'm not even sure how to tell if it's a female or a male.
One more question, is it ok to keep feeding him peas...
Hi Jsoong,
I just wanted to update you on what has been happening.
I finished the Myxazin treatment last week (Tuesday) and during the treatment there was no improvement. His eye was still bulging a bit and his poop was still sometimes like mucus with a zig zag white line running through...
Thanks
That is what I thought. He's definately not going to get better just with clean water so I will have to use Myxazin and see how it goes.
His poop doesn't sound like you described. It's more like clear mucus-like poop with a thin white zigzag string running through the middle of it...
Hi,
I'll give him some peas tomorrow. I had a good look at his poop and it's actually long clear mucus like poop with a very thin zig zag white line inside.
I read this somewhere: ''Zig Zag and clear long poop =-possibly dispersing absorbed eggs'' I don't think that's right in my fish's case...
Hi Jsoong,
Thanks fr the advice.
Today his tail seems to be much better and looks like it's growing back a bit at least (lets hope he carries on like that)
He's still just sitting at the bottom of the tank behind a rock all the time except when I feed them which is the only time that he...
Hi Jsoong,
In the fiirst picture I have highlighted the areas where it looks like there something inflamed inside pushing it out and it makes his other side look swollen, or it could be that becausehe is swollen on the other side it's pushing some organs on the marked areas.
In the second...
Hi Jsoong,
Thanks for the quick reply. His poop is thinner than yesterday today and the same colour of his food, but it still trails for a long time and it's quite long (what does this mean?)
I think the last resort would be taking him to the vet. I don't really want to move him around, but...
Hi Jsoong,
Thanks for the advice,
He is swollen and I'm worried that it might be what you sugested. He's not rounded swollen, but more like only in certain parts of his abdomen. He has one single scale sticking out a tiny bit, you can only notice it if you look closely. Could it be because...
Thank you very much jsoong,
Your input is really helpfull.
I checked the water today and it was very good. 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, very low levels of nitrates 8 I think and PH was 8.2 (not sure about the PH, but have been told by a few people tht goldfish prefer a higher PH than other fish...
