My tank is sitting next to my bed, but I could siphon water to the yard and bring in water through a hose. Im lazy as well, but I though of everything beforehand for my lazyness.

    Location of your fish tank.

I turn off the powerheads at night and use moonlighting, so I cant hear anything from my tank.

    What is this

Tell me what kind of lighting and how many watts are on your 20 gallon, maybe it could be the lights. How often do you do waterchanges? Your tank isnt heavily stocked, but you never know.

    What is this

Usually prevent it or fixing the problem is better than removing the actual threads, it will keep coming back.

    Location of your fish tank.

Hello, I was curious how you fellow fish keepers keep your fish tank setups. Do you place them in a living room or hallway so guests could see your setups or near faucets for easy cleaning? How many keep your fish tank in your bedroom near your bed? Or even the garage. Im not sure why, but...

    Odd schooling behavior?

There are many fish that will school together in presence of a predator. I have a tank of congo tetra, giant danios, geophagus (cichlid) and african tigerfish. They all school together when I walk near the tank, and seperate once its calm.

    Lighting advice

If you have hair and beard algae, it could also be from not doing enough water changes. Remember algae can feed on things besides light, like the water.

    Anyone use a moon light?

I purchased a night light from IKEA that has 24 little blue LED bulbs and I use this for my tank moonlighting. At night the fish diplay their nocturnal side, whether it be not moving much or activly seeking food. Plus it looks really cool and my GF likes the mood it sets.

I can not believe what just happened to me.

Why would you buy the fish and plants before the tank was even setup?

    Hair Algae problem

It means your water is good but your lights arent enough. Blackbeard algae do well in low lighting and comete with plants and other bacteria for food. If you blacked out your tank with a blanket, your plants will die before the BBA. If anything, get stronger lights. Also, you got a small...
