yeah they eat anything just dont feed them live goldfish it prevents them from absorbing vitamins, there is something in them i feed mine bloodworms, frozen brine etc

i have 4 gouramis 2 gold 2 blue one rainbow shark, 2 CAE and a pictus i just recently added a dwarf cichlid they seem to be the only fish that can hold their own with the gouramis has anyone heard of killer gouramis lol?
the ph is not as important as a steady ph. of course you want fish that can tolerate acidic water, but it is more important to have the PH steady then perfect. To answer you question though anything under i would say 5.5 might start being a prob considering

alot of drift woods will lower the ph however there is a bad side you have to soak it for quite a long time or your water will turn tea color because tanins are released from the wood. it wont harm the fish but it will color your water.
yes but my tiger barbs have been breathin heavy all of them?, tiger barbs are very prone to ich my other fish are fine. they are labyritnh fish so i dont know since i put the live plants in ther the barbs flash and breath heavy i think i am going to quarintine them i see no evidence of velvet...
