    New Fish

I'm afraid 2-3 more cories would be pushing it...especially with 6....any other opinions?

    New Fish

I recently had a betta pass away, and I'm looking for something to put into the tank. I have a 10 gal with 3 cories, 3 otos, and a bamboo shrimp. Also has a billion anacharis plants. (skipped 1 week of water changes, still have 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, and 15 nitrates, but usually nitrates are...

    Sick Betta

Thanks for the suggestions, he had died this morning. I think the reason he was getting sick was due to a compromised immune system because he was dying of old age. It's never the physical old age that gets you, it just leads to many things at once. My first and favorite fish, came up to see...

    Sick Betta

I apologize, I edited in the parameters and I guess I didnt save. (that's why I thought it odd that he ask when the water change was) Ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 15, pH 7.2

    Sick Betta

I usually do it every week, but it had let it get away from me. I plan on doing one today/tomorrow (which will be 2 weeks), but I tested the water day before yesterday and the params were good.

    Sick Betta

I've had this betta for about a year now, and of course when I got him before I knew anything I picked the one with the longest most colorful fins. Who knows how long he sat at walmart before I found him. Yesterday I didn't even think he would make it through the night. He has something...

    Feeding bamboo shrimp

I put 1/2 algae wafer and 3 shrimp pellets in at night, and then maybe a little more during the day mainly for my 3 cories and 3 otos. However, there seems to be enough left for my bamboo shrimp because he is ALWAYS a nice red color except for when I first got him, and when I start trying to...

    Ich

ok, I was unaware that heat alone was effective. I do have a heater. My water params this morning were ammonia:0, nitrites:0, nitrates:10-15, pH:7.2. Is 88*F a safe temperature for cories and bamboo shrimp also? (its a 10 gal with 1 betta, 3 otos, 3 cories, and a bamboo shrimp)

    Ich

At first my betta only had one white-ish spot, I thought maybe he just scraped a scale? Well a few days later, he has a few spots so I'm pretty sure it's ich. I would prefer to use the salt treatment just because it's more natural then dumping some chemicals that stain my seals/decorations...

    It never ends... now ammonia

As long as you don't have any fish sensitive to salt, you can actually treat ich with high temperatures and aquarium salt without having to remove your charcoal media. If you want I can look around and find the amount your suppose to used. The only thing is, you only add more salt when doing...

    Show Me Your Betta Setups

The Aquaclear 5-15/mini filter is good for 10 gal tanks. $20 in store at petsmart, but only $13 if you print out the online price and bring it in.

    55gal stocking

I love cories, you should definately get some. They need to be kept in a minimum group of 3, but 6 is best, and with such a large tank, you could easily keep 6.

    Snail eaters?

so a bit off topic, but someone mentioned snails and killing plants. I have recently had a problem with snails also, the round ones, I mean this snail lays TONS of eggs, and apparently more and more are surviving, however I don't feed my fish too much, I've even been told to maybe up their...

I've joined the dark side- Minibow 2.5 pico! *Frag pics!!!*

All I can say is wow. I didn't really get into fish until when I started college (last fall), because I grew up with tons of pets (no fish) and I missed having something to take care of. I have a 10 gal because it's all I can really fit in my room, but your tank is inspiring. Surely I could...

    Diatoms* Getting Very Irritating.

although one oto would clean a 10 gal in 3 days, I would recommend getting 2-3, I have 3 in my 10 gal, because they really enjoy the company. It just means that you'll need to put in some supplemental food once the algae is gone, such as algae wafers and/or zucchini.
