    Black Oscar?

Very skinny, just received him 4 days ago. Back story is written in my earlier posts. I think I just inherited somebody's fraudulent purchase. I don't quite know if I want to rehome or just nurse back to health and keep. Though he is skinny and a little on the weak side he has had the first 4...

How many CA/SA cichlids in a 125g gallon?

That is an obnoxious amount of large terrors in a tank that should only have a quarter of that amount. I hope they aren't using lowered temperatures to force submission. I love your comments, HUKIT, nice to see you around ? You'll find most people that are cichlid fanatics are serious about...

    Black Oscar?

UPDATE- I'm now convinced that this oscar is a dyed or tattooed gold oscar. The white spot on his pectoral fins cleared and the ocelli have turned into raised white flesh. He is covered in ammonia burn, but he is apparently pulling through. I'm not quite sure what to do, though. what am I doing?

    Black Oscar?

He said his name was Tom Smith, but I don't think so, the address he gave me was fake. I responded to a classified ad and only paid shipping. what am I doing?

    Black Oscar?

I love the silver arowana. Would love to have one, but another tank over 750g would collapse my first floor at home ?. I was, however, referring to the wild oscar just about off screen ? and the pic directly underneath. what am I doing?

    Black Oscar?

From what I've been told it was caught in Venezuela along an Orinoco tributary. The collector that sent this specimen to me said that of the 6 specimens he received it was the only one with "undesirable markings and passive temperament" and he didn't want him. what am I doing?

    What type of snapping turte?

She snaps at absolutely everything other than people at this point in time and uses her buddy the musk turtle to clamber out of the water to beg for food on top of the floating driftwood whenever anyone enters the room. what am I doing?

    What type of snapping turte?

Yay, star wars reference ?!!! UPDATE- I have been working all night and my little monster is getting a lot of attention lately, as have my ponds. A visiting researcher has found and confirmed a dead alligator snapper in an area of woods surrounding my large pond, so there is a more likely than...

Cichlids in planted communiy tank options

I'll have to do more research on Ellioti as I have no experience with them. I was hoping someone else might be able to answer that one. I have experience with firemouth cichlids, and if these cousins of the ellioti are any clue I'd advise against it, especially with the thought of housing with a...

Cichlids in planted communiy tank options

This is what has happened with my clients' tanks, without a doubt. It just seems like keyhole cichlids have a bit more of need for territorial space at spawning time then rams (I know size is the factor there), apistos (another awesome planted community cichlid option), or even Dempseys (can be...

    Black Oscar?

I will be at my house in the morning and will snap a couple pics. I have decided to do some tank rearranging to give him a 40g grow out tank. I don't want to introduce him to my other oscars (I have 2 others in my 350g currently) to prevent hybridization if he is a rare or localized variation...

Cichlids in planted communiy tank options

I would introduce your smallest first. Bleeding heart tetra have become exceedingly popular these days- but might I suggest diamond tetra? They are so very underrated and are a magnificent sight to see in bright planted conditions!!!! I would be weary of keyhole cichlids, as many times as I've...
