Clear but Opaque coating on Platy

I have one sunburst platy that is clamping fins, the only thing I notice is a sort of smooth opaque coating over fish (as if it swam through egg white color). It's totally smooth, no lumps or spots, just an opaqueness over the body. Any ideas?

    How to Euthanize Dying Fish?

I put her in a 10 gallon hospital. Salt, foam bubble filter. Have not seen her eat, but she seems to be improving, more active, does not appear to look so emaciated. Not sure where we are at.

    How to Euthanize Dying Fish?

Thank you. Did not know about the sticky. Even after prying her off the filter intake with my bare hands, I put her in the breeder box and she is still Stable. I wish I could figure out how to rehabilitate her. I can't put her down now that she is still trying to live....frustrated...

    Sick-Skinny-Platy

A few weeks ago I purchased two female red Platys, one of the two has always been smaller, less colorful and prefers to stay alone, usually in the plants. Increasingly she is losing weight, but she does eat. Her fins are always usually clamped. She is becoming weaker. The thinnest part of...

    Sandy looking stuff on fish

I didn't know that freshwater fish can handle 86 degrees. I guess I assumed this because when I had to treat my tank, I was told to bump temp to 80-82 and add salt. I have Corys and a Pleco and they tolerated salt fine. My normal temp is 75-77 degrees.

    Extremely high levels

Thanks for the info here! My tap water is 0 nitrates and nitrites. I use stress coat for chlorine. I think my tank is trying to cycle. How do I know if it is cycling, or something else wrong?

    Extremely high levels

I am going through similar situation, so I subscribed to your thread. People told me despite many 50-60% water changes and clean tank, my water may be the culprit of continuing high nitrites. I am going to test my water today.
