Kenia tree or flower tree coral?

unfortunately my other half loves the coral and has informed me to do everything possible to make it flourish regardless of cost :D. I purchased a small piece of live rock to form a cave over it and have started doing targeted feeding with greenwater. Does anyone know if algae phytoplankton is...

Kenia tree or flower tree coral?

I'm definantly leaning towards thinking that as well, it would be a bummer if it is only because I would have to attempt to target feed it with greenwater or some sort of phyto.

Kenia tree or flower tree coral?

As soon as I get home from work I will get a better close up picture of the coral, it has not opened its polyps yet so I cant see what form they have.

Kenia tree or flower tree coral?

Went looking at a new LFS over the weekend and he sold me what was supposed to be a kenia tree, I got it in my tank and as it started expanding i'm now thinking I got the wool pulled over my eyes and it was actually a flower tree coral, the non photosynthetic type... I'm thinking scleronephthlya.

new 140ish gal reef with fish tank

The next Tank has already been planned. When we renovate the house over the winter my wife wants to integrate a tank into a wall and make the storage closet behind it the sump room. It should be around 9 feet long at that point.

new 140ish gal reef with fish tank

The tank has been done cycling for close to 2 weeks now so I decided to make the first livestock purchases. All 3 are adolescent so I hope to have them for a very long time and watch them grow.

new 140ish gal reef with fish tank

Just a brief update, the tank is filled and running mid cycle. Ammonia is <.2ppm, nitrites are dropping and nitrate is around 10ppm. Diatoms are blooming as well. Hopefully in a week or 2 I can call it cycle complete and start introducing the first fish.

    Cycling - shrimp? lights? Skimmer?

I'm in the middle of cycling a new tank as well, I used a fresh uncooked shrimp to get the ammonia to rise. It peaked by the 4th day and now is not present with my nitrites starting to come down and nitrates starting to become present.

new 140ish gal reef with fish tank

Mr_x, great to hear. I had not purchased either yet so the money I would have wasted on that can go to more live rock :thumb:

new 140ish gal reef with fish tank

Currently fish wise I have a powder tang and a pair do maroon clowns, as for corals I have assorted mushrooms and zoanthus polyps, and a leather coral. I have felt fairly limited on the corals as I was using fluorescent lighting and I just didn't have the wattage for more. Now that I'm moving to...

new 140ish gal reef with fish tank

The tank is now going together nicely, the filter system is in, the plumbing is mostly done, the extra live rock has been curing in the garage. All that's left is to disassemble the old tank, transfer the corals to the holding tank, and then cycle this one and transfer the skimmer and power...

new 140ish gal reef with fish tank

Here is the tank and stand, both custom made. this picture was pre plumbing so its obviously missing the drains and...

    28 gal species specific tank

Yeah I was concerned with that as well when I was researching it but it matches what a white carpet anemone is supposed to look like. It is eating and has settled into one spot so i remain hopeful! Carpet Anemone -White (stoichactis kenti)

    28 gal species specific tank

Well after months of searching i finally found an undyed carpet anemone. It went into my established 28gal bowfront which prior to it only had 2 false percula's a peppermint shrimp and the CUC. There is 10KG's of crushed coral substrate and roughly 14KG's of liverock. The darker liverock was...
