Ammonia went up and down, but no nitrites, nitrates

Hey Jose! Welcome to AA!!!! I have to agree with ziggy, you already had the beneficial bacteria on the rock itself and the amount of rock you threw in there cycled the tank super quick. Like ziggy said, throw some rubble in the sump and i think that should be good.

Hey Agnate, Do you have the tank on the rug itself or did you cut the rug? Im debating on throwing wood flooring in my living room because it has rug and i dont want to take a risk.

    Cyano

I changed about 30% of the water just now and pulled the scrubbed the cyano off of the rocks that were the most impacted by it, siphoned the cyano off of the sand and rescaped the rocks. I will post paramaters again this week and update on the cyano.

Well getting new test is out of the question because i just bought a new Hagen Master Test kit about a month ago, and i had a salifert master reef test kit that measures the same. Like i said, i might have just gotten a bad batch of IO. Either way, im done with IO.

    Cyano

Thanks for replying Kurt. I went to Big Als a little after my post and I bought the Red Sea Salt. I tested my RO/DI water before adding the salt and I got 0 dkH. NO2 & NO3 NH3 all 0. I added the Red Sea Salt and I got 5 dkH NO2 NO3 NH3 all 0. PH=8.4 . From what I am gathering so far Red Sea is...

    Cyano

Lol. Everyone has asked me the same question. I dont dose my tank. THat is what has perplexed me from the moment i started testing for alk. I was reading that Red Sea has an alk of 2.5 after mixing with RO/DI. ANy thoughts on this? I am getting ready to go to Big Als in 20 minutes.

    Cyano

I came to the conclusion that the instant ocean salt must be causing my cyano. I siphoned out the cyano last night, did a 25% water change and this morning it was worse than before. Im running Phosban in the Phosban Reactor and my parameters are as follows. Nitrates=..05 Nitrites=0 Phos=0...

    Cyano

Well i have changed a total of 50 gallons over the past week, and it seems to be getting better. I noticed that my parameters are almost back to normal. Nitri= 0 Amm= 0 Nitrate.05 PH=8.1 Phos=0 dKH= 19 (down from 24) My only thing is that i checked my Ro/Di water prior to mixing and my dKH is...

    Cyano

Well i had an emergency tank change that caused a spike in my levels. The water flow just improved in my tank. I recently installed a mag 9.5 and a Koralia 2 to go along with my Koralia 1. I feed every 2 to 3 days. I stop adding Marine Snow and Mysis. Im only using the pellets for now. There is...
