Breaking down tank for rebuild -- What is needed in temp QT tank?

I am breaking down my 55 gallon for a substrate change, deep cleaning, etc. I bought a 35 gallon rubbermaid container that I plan on filling up 3/4 of the way with tank water and running my normal canister filter in it with a heater. Will this be sufficient to not get an ammonia spike? I have...

    Lighting price question.

aesthetics, reflector quality, fits the aquarium length for one, fans to remove excess heat, etc. also a lot of aquarium lights are somethign other than standard output floros. Some of these lights put out more lumins and can penetrate water depth better as well.

Got my BBA combat fatigues on...

mine has been 80% beaten with spot dosing and manually removing any leaves that get too infected. i think the fast growing stem parts are really helping. My Co2 tank ran out 2 weeks ago and i hve been using only excel and havent noticed much change in the algae for the better or worse.

Got my BBA combat fatigues on...

im having a staghorn and BBA outbreak. i removed the leaves that were highly infected, started dosing Excel (despite the fact i have pressurized co2), reduced my ferts to half (i used to have a lot of fast growing plants and remvoed them to only slow growth - that is when this started), and i...

I need to trim off some of the bottom leaves of my massive anubias. I like the overal shape of the plant now, just dont like the look at the bottom due to the GSA that has started to form on the bottom 2/3 of the plant. If i trim off the bottom 2/3 of the plant, will new leaves grow in the...

Fish that should NOT be sold... or at least should come with a legal disclaimer.

I have a CAE too...pain in my @$$. he harrasses any shark like fish. I just got rid of my Bala to someone who could support a fish of that size. When i did that, the CAE went after my SAE during the "struggle for power" after removing the dominent fish...long and short of it...the CAE won....jerk

    Bala Shark Injury

i hate to say it, but if the bala survives, its time to say goodbye. That bala is too large for a 55 gallon tank. I just gave away my 6 yr old bala shark (in a 55 gallon tank) yesterday. He would freak out and would nearly knock himself out. I decided i would rahter have the fish survive...
