I'll start doing that with the filters. With the water changes the nitrites and nitrates are at 0. The cloudy water lasted 2 days then overnight the water was clear. Haven't checked the tap water. I've added ammonia treatment but that hasn't really helped. PH at 7.6. Temp 78. I'm missing...

I have a established 125 gal tank running for about 2 yrs. Last week I did a water 40% water change and cleaned both cannister filters. (Same thing I've been doing for the last 2 yrs) my ammonia has spiked to 6-8 ppm. Did more water changes then I got white bacteria all over the tank...

Rams look really good. I want some but can I put those with a 8" Oscar ??? I'm afraid the Oscar will eat them. How about with Malawi cichlids??? (Second tank).

The black diamond stuff says its COAL SLAG. is that what you are talking about???

It's a freshwater tank. Haven't been able to find black sand. Was think about mixing black sand with crushed coral for higher PH. My tap water is a little soft. The tank will have a 7" Oscar and about 10 tank mates.

What kind of clean up crew can you have with an Oscar. I'm afraid he'll eat everything.

I'm upgrading from a 55 gal to 125 gal tank. Was thinking about using sand but realized there are a bunch of different sands out there to choose from. I was reading about pool sand, coral sand, qickrete sand, reef sand and so on and so on. I need advise on what to use. I have a API XL...

Look at Craigslist. I just got a 135 gal reef (glass) tank for $80.

Thanks. Took my time and kept changing the plans if something didn't look good. 5 coats of latex paint later and it was done.

does anyone have any experience with this canister filter. looks like you can piggy back additional cannisters in a row for bigger tanks. i have a 135 gal FW project that im looking for filtration for it. if anyone has better ideas for equipment, please let me know. (prefer no sumps)...
