Thanks for all the answers, I think ill take the risk and add a betta to the tank. If it starts being aggressive Ill remove it immediately

When picking out the betta should I choose the calmest one or an active one? If it has a super feisty personality I feel like it be more aggressive idk haha

I have a 12 gallon with 5 neon tetras,2 nerite snails, and 2 platies now could I put a male betta to the tank? I'm afraid he will attack my other fish

That's a good idea too but I never did a planted tank before so I don't know how well that would turn out for me. I am gonna do a betta fish. I think that be a good choice for a 10 gallon :)

Now that I decided on a betta, the bigger question is what color I should get ;)

My male guppies have no problems getting along together so far. They came from a tank with all males and as far as I observed they were not being agressive at all. I don't know if this sounds stupid but I'm starting high school this year and I'm worried about the schedule change with my fish :P I'm fairly new to fish keeping I've only kept a 20 gallon and currently have a 12 gallon with 2 balloon belly mollies some neons and 3 male guppies. I was worried...

Would a male betta get or just the female I have currently get along with platies? Kind of a random question but do you know of any small algae eating fish? I'm afraid to do oto cats cause I heard they're not that hardy :\

Ill defiantly consider the endlers. Or the betta sorority, right now I have a female betta I want to move to a bigger tank. What other fish get along with a female betta?

Neon tetras will school but as they get more accustomed to their surroundings they start to spread out. Mine go all over and stay in loose groups. I heard rummy nose tetras are good schoolers :)

I received a ten gallon tank unexpectedly and I have no clue on what I want to do with it. So any suggestions on what to keep would be greatly appreciated. I like community tanks but id be open to a species tank. :)

Honestly I would forget the betta and do other fish like azmodan suggested cause then u won't have to worry about limiting yourself to fish that only get along with bettas. :)
