i have an aqualine protein skimmer and it is rated up to 150gal. it is powered by a rio 1700 ph. i have a mag 7 pump i want to use. can i use the mag 7 instead of the rio 1700? if so, how do i go about using it (installing it?) i tried awhile back but the water overflowed from the skimmer...

can somebody please ID the whitish thing growing on my algae. is it something harmful?

just an update. finally got rid (TOTALLY!) of the micro-bubbles.. with a sigh of relief finally achieved what i have been painstakingly (both financially and time) undergoing for the last couple of months. heck, people from ACE HARDWARE already knew me by my first name! thanks for the inputs guys.

ive considedered crabs as the culprit but i think they are innocent. its when the fish are weak and ill and dying then the crabs pounce in. i was thinking i may have too much of a circulation perhaps? i have a closed loop powered by a mag24 with a SCWD. i do have micro bubbles coming out of...

finally found the tang and as what i have feared, it was dead. really do not understand how it became ill as it was in the qt for more than 2 weeks, acclimitized before putting on the main tank. well, guess no more new fish for me for now..

hmm , , cant seem to find my yellow eyed tang anywhere! im thinking he perished already but have not seen it floating or being munched on by my crabs!

just to update you guys. i was able to move the yellow eyed tang to the main tank. what it has done though is just hide into the rocks. and i do think it is also not eating well. hopefully things will turn around for the better. my asfur angel was not as lucky though. it got caught on the...

my asfur angel in my qt suffered the same fate. unfortunately, i found this out too late.

for those newbies reading this thread. forget the idea of using silicone. did not work for me and did not help at all. i used epoxy pc 7 instead.

probably found the problem. its a bushing that i have in the intake plumbing. (where i put water to prime pump) just put pvc cement and seems to me there is way less micro bubbles..

read about putting silicone on all joints. will probably try this approach.

checked on the yellow eyed tang today and seems to me its doing well. its swimming a lot now and saw it eat today! my asfur angel is ok too save for the popeye that he has right now on one of his eyes. guess ill have to keep the asfur (and the tang too?) for awhile on qt? was planning to move...
