Max amount of gouramis in a 29 gal?

1 blue gourami, 2.5 in 1 opaline gourami, 2.7 in 2 gold gouramis, 2.3 in 3 dwarf gouramis, 1.7 in Unfortunately, I was too late in realizing that these fish were not all too compatible because of territorial fighting, but they are, like I said before, getting along ok. If the fish size is...

Max amount of gouramis in a 29 gal?

I have four gouramis that are mixed breed and are getting along with each other ok. I also have three dwarf gouramis that are doing fine with the others too. I have a fluval aquaclear filter running at 200 gallons filtered per hour, plus a moss ball sitting at the bottom. Is this too many fish...

Betta laying at bottom of tank

I forgot to mention that this is my FRIEND'S betta, so I don't exactly know his water changing schedule (I can imagine 50 percent per week, so I can imagine the ammonia and nitrates being high,) but I know that he's been living there for about 3 weeks. I will tell him he needs to put him in a...

Betta laying at bottom of tank

    Betta community tank?

…forgot to mention that, but yeah your right. They really do produce waste like any other fish. I'm not quite sure where I learned that they don't count as space, but now that I think about it, it's probably not entirely true!

    Betta community tank?

A great example of a good peaceful-yet-exciting tank mate are some cory catfish. I've had more than 5 that lived with my betta for 2 and a half years. They are schooling fish, so you need at least 4. Don't worry about space, bottom feeders don't count.

    Betta fish feeding: picky eaters

I first introduced a beautiful male dumbo betta about a couple weeks ago, and he has been very tough to please lately. He won't eat any food unless it's been like a day or two since I've fed him, and he eats a flake normally but then he'll spit it out. He usually doesn't ignore it after that, he...

    Never clearing water!!!

I tested the water, and all seems well. This here is a 4 month old 29 gallon tank with a bad brown algae problem. No matter how well I vacuum out the gravel and use proper treatments, the constant cloudiness will never dissipate, even after a few days. It will slightly go away, but it never...

How can I increase my alkalinity?

I know it's related to ph, so should I raise it? The ph right now is looking normal.

    Help!!!!

My opaline gouramie is looking perfectly healthy, no parasite or anything. He is swimming well but he is all of a sudden very shy. I wasn't able to feed him because he would hide behind the driftwood and stay there for a few minutes. He lives with other gouramies in a well decorated 30 gallon...

    Opaline and golden gouramie tankmates?

I have some gouramies and a whole bunch of catfish in a 30 gallon tank that has many caverns and plants, but I need some good all level swimmers in my tank. I know gouramies are aggressive, so I need to know some tankmates to put In with them. I'm also thinking about putting in some Pictus...

Other ways to heat up your aquarium

We just don't have the time and money now to buy a heater for my 29 gallon tank. Are there any ways at home that you can do to raise the temp of the water in the aquarium?
