    Green water

I posted this on another forum... should fit in nicely under this subject... Subject: I fixed my green water... Well, almost. I'd say I'm about 70% there. How did I do it? Mainly patience. And a few other things. I'm putting this out there hoping that others will read it and take some...

    Green water

I've heard and read that Peroxide is for aerating the water. I've never heard of it killing off algae...

    Green water

Hi Dug. I've had a pond for three years... and the green water drives me nuts. And its always a different cause every year. One year its not enough bacteria, the next its not a bright enough UV. I honestly can't win with this thing and it's getting very frustrating. The reason I'm here tonight...

    Leak?

Good day... long time no post... not much fun during the winter while everything is frozen over! So I think I have a leak... I lose an inch or so of water every three to four days... could this be normal evaporation? I don't remember the level going down so much last year, so that is...

    Bubbler, ice, and doming

Here ya go, cc... yes, there is a bubbler in there... if you look hard enough, you can see about a three inch diameter hole that I just opened up with hot water... someone said I should have put a tote over it... too late for this season... definitely a consideration for next year.

    Bubbler, ice, and doming

Thanks, cc... thats what I was thinking too... Too late to do anything about it now... The weather has been crazy this year... it was in the sixties just over a week ago... so the bubbler was needed... and the bam: freezing over night and it hasn't gotten over 25... too late to pull the bubbler...

    Bubbler, ice, and doming

Hello everyone... long time no post... Its been very close to zero here in the northeast, and my heater is working well keeping a hole open in the ice... i also have a bubbler doing its thing down the other end of the pond... my assumption is that this keeps the water oxygenated. Needless to...

    Pond plants....

Oh goodie! Twice the nightmare! Just got back from five days away (vacation FINALLY!) and found that the floating hyacinths dang near took over the entire pond. Gonna be thinning them out tomorrow...

    Pumps...

When you say 'clean'... just rinse it out or you actually take it apart?

If you don't go with fish, try a fountain or two. And yes, they ARE fun... I really enjoy the hobby...

    New photo's of the pond!

Hey krap... my lily is pretty dormant too... been in there since June and not one flower... Will it come back next year or did I waste $25?

    Pond plants....

Seriously? Ruh roh! That was never explained to me at the nursery. But let me tell ya... if replanting them makes 'em take off MORE, then I'm glad I didn't replant them. My stuff is out of control... makes sense what you guys are saying... great tip for the spring... The point, though, was to...

    New photo's of the pond!

I'd like to see a full shot like you originally posted when it was under construction. Unfortunately, like with mine, its tough to see and understand the falls. Looks absolutely amazing though... real colorful. I think we should organize a field trip to Squishy's place.

    Pond plants....

Alot of pond plants come in planters that you just toss into the pond... they remain in the planter. I have an iris and a waterlily each in their original container. Also look into floating hyacinths... The waterlilies and hyacinths grow like crazy: The waterlily adds three to five new leaves...

    Pumps...

Thanks, Squish... I have a sponge filter over my fountain pump intake, which needs to be cleaned pretty much weekly... This was my first problem with the falls pump... I pulled it out this morning and what happened was a couple pieces of that floating oxygenator (kinda looks like a pine...
