Thanks, it's a 55 gallon. PH is stable. So even though there are no nitrates I should be ok?

I am week 5 into a fish in cycle. A little over a week ago I added some hornwort to the tank, and now my ammonia is 0, nitrites are 0, and nirtrates are 0. Previously, I was getting .25 ammonia, up to 5ppm of Nitrite and the highest I ever had of Nitrates were 5 ppm. I know the plants help...

Thanks everyone I ordered a 48 inch hood, that holds the light as well, and comes with a 32 watt bulb. This should be good? Also, I would love that list of plants...I have a few that I was told were low light, and grown in low light but I'm not sure what they are.

Also,I just measured my tank and it's 48 inches exactly, so not sure how I can get a bulb that long.

Thanks, any suggestions on where to get a strip at? On-line, would be best because the stores around here just never seem to have what I need.

The glass I put in there should be doing that, It is going across the tank, siliconed to each side of glass. I guess I don't see the difference.

I pretty much did this except I didn't remove the plastic, I just put it under the plastic part. Is this not going to work?

I do have the prime, and I'm using it daily. I was just thinking it was slowing the process by binding it before the bacteria get their turn at it.

So are you saying the fix I did wont work? What I was reading is that those bars break quite often, so I didn't want to replace with cheap plastic again for it to break again. Any other inputs?

I bought a used 55 gallon tank, and the center brace was broken. I tried to reapply it with aquarium silicone, and it broke off again a day later. I read that using a custom piece of glass would be best, so I bought that today and put it in with silicone. I'm hoping it stays, but for some reason...

Thanks for all the replies. I guess the reasoning I was taking her word as valuable is because she said she has two tanks at home, and over all fish is what she is most passionate about. Anyways, I will continue with the water changes, and take that stuff back to the store. Hope it all cycles...
