So I'm still trying to get the nitrates down, but in doing so I came across the cause for the die off I think. I'm fairly certain I have a calcium deficiency in my tank which caused the snails to die. I noticed a ramshorn snail alive still, but his shell was bumpy and pitted and light in...
I don't think it's the plants, I actually hacked everything down very short two weeks ago and it's just coming in nice and bushy now. I definitely use the turkey baster to loosen and lift anything on the ground to the water column too before changes.
I did rinse them till clear initially, but...
I did have an ammonia and nitrite spike like a month and a half ago. I had some root tabs pop up from the dirt and attributed it to that. But currently no ammonia just nitrate.
Only the one manzanita branch but it's not harboring detritus. I actually had it out of the tank last week to add...
Hey all,
I've done basic troubleshooting and am running out of ideas. Been riding high nitrates for a bit, around 80ppm. I've checked the tap and it's got no nitrates. I checked my test kit against distilled water and it came up showing none either so the test kit is fine. I stopped dosing...
Moving in a different direction and this is quickly outgrowing my tank. Photo below is it from two weeks ago in my tank. The sword I'd say is about 16-18" leaves.
My tank is 21" tall and it's almost to the top now. Both are in great shape. Very little algae if any and definitely has...
You could definitely do a m/f pair of rams, or a m/m ram/apisto combo.
I have a 46 gallon bow and I have a m/f pair of rams and m/f pair of apisto cacs without a problem.
Hey all, I just ordered an Apex Lite and was curious if others here run one?
I plan to use it for sunrise/sunset with my buildmyled dutch light initially. Going forward I'll use it as a ph controller to handle my co2 as well. Curious what others run with theirs. I see you can use it for...
I agree here. Sounds like they just need to acclimate more due to the way you added them.
Is your tank very new w/no fish? Just curious as you have no nitrates.
We can't really help by being given fine as an answer to your water parameters. I'm not trying to sound mean but if you ask for help you need to give real info to us.
That being said it's either your parameters, acclimation technique, sick fish from the store, or the fish are just not...
I've successfully used a combo or maracyn and maracyn 2 to treat fungal issues as well.
Pimafix is great though and I'd try that first since it's easier on the BB in the tank. I use Pimafix now on all my QT tanks with new fish.
What are your water parameters like? We need some more info to determine. Are they swimming up there or just floating lifeless? Guppies are upper column fish so if they are just swimming that's fairly normal.
Thanks, appreciate it! Yours is coming along too it seems!
Mine is such a work in progress always. I'm finally at a point where it's just trimming and planting to fill in, but I'm really learning what plants I want where as I go along.
I got a buyer for my water sprite now so that will be...
Here's my 46 gallon bow front. It's been up since July, but I did a huge cut 2 weeks ago and planted just the tops of all my stems. The bottoms were pretty raggity as they were from clippings from other members of forums. All the stems now have been grown in only my tank and they look real...
Yeah, i thought that too. Seems the seller on aquabid had them mislabeled. Glad I went with them instead of the orange flash then since I wanted triple red all along.
I caught these two spawning already, only 3 days in my tank. Is that normal to spawn so quickly?
