GBR's Ready to Spawn!? Lots of Pics!

Sorry about the lost. They will spawn again in a week or two. Pale eggs usually mean the male did not do his job. One trick I found was to leave a night light on for the breeding pair so they will have a visual of where the eggs are. So far the success rate of the eggs reaching wigglers stage...

GBR's Ready to Spawn!? Lots of Pics!

You can also tell by looking at the female "tube" it should be bigger/longer then usual.

Once they start cleaning and digging pits then it will happen soon.

Breeding German Blue Rams? Tips please.

Nope, that is not always correct, as I have males with blue spots in the circle. The only way I've been able to tell is a red/pink belly on the females.

Breeding German Blue Rams? Tips please.

Can't tell from the first pic if it's a male or female as I can't see the red/pink belly. If they are doing the dance and digging holes in the sand then most likely you got yourself a pair.

    fish flash mob perhaps?

4 German Blue Rams (2 males, 2 females), what should I do for breeding purposes?

I doubt it. Once the male has bonded with the first female and laid eggs he will be with her until the eggs/fry are gone. Before when I had 3 female and 2 males. The last female who didn't have a mate would dig/clean her own spawning site and would try to entice both males. They would usually...

4 German Blue Rams (2 males, 2 females), what should I do for breeding purposes?

29G is small for 2 pairs of GBR but its doable. Make sure to have lots of cover (plants, cave, wood, etc) I have 3 pair in a 55G and each pair has their own spot. The biggest and most dominate male/female claims the middle of the tank and the other two pair takes a corner.

Breeding German Blue Rams? Tips please.

I started breeding GBR's a month ago. I have 3 pairs that breed like clockwork. I tried raising the eggs to fry myself but after a few days of free swimming all the fry would start dying. This current batch I let the parents raise the fry and so far so good. I had to take the mom out...

GBR breeding in High PH and Hardwater

12/16 - ALL FRY'S ARE NOW ZOMBIES!!!!! GBR's are able to breed, spawn and hatch in hard water as I noted in this thread. The ideal condition would still be soft water with a low ph. PH- over 8.4 Hardness - 22 GPG -end

    Breeding GBR's aggression

I have 6 cories in a 55G. The only time my pair would attack the cories was when they were within a half foot radius of the eggs. With 7 cories in a 20L your pair would probably get stress out and eat the eggs.

GBR breeding in High PH and Hardwater

12/14 - Last night I tested the tank and found .25 nitrite and 20 nitrate. Did a back to back 50% water change and brought everything back to normal. Fry still does not want microworm so after an hour I suction up as much of the worm I can see. GBR Pair laid again last night but this morning...

GBR breeding in High PH and Hardwater

12/13 - all fry's are free swimming now. Tried feeding microworm last night but they just ignored it. I'm getting a break out of white cotton like substance all over the fry tank. I'm not what it is and will have to search the net for a cure. Edit- Seems like the cause of the white cotton...

GBR breeding in High PH and Hardwater

12/12 - A few fry's are free swimming. Threw in a handful of java moss so they can feed on the micro organism. Notice last night GBR pair were digging pits and cleaning buried rock. I expect eggs within a couple of days.
