the uv unit did come with it's own pump but we hooked it onto the skimmer output as to drop running costs. why add an extra pump when you have flow to utilize.

At my work on an Abalone (Pāua) holding tank we run a uv sterilizer on the skimmer outlet and ozone generator outlet into venturi down pipes. i've never seen water so clear before and it is our best holding tank by far. BUT add around a tonne of Pāua and that water quality soon disappears...

water quality is great, plenty of aeration. nitrate did spike slightly on this mornings tests but due for 1/3 water change out this arvo.

Picked up a pair of silvers yesterday, curious to know are they normally shy? They keep on hiding behind and inside some ornaments and very skiddish. They did eat today. Will be setting up a small brine shrimp grower over the weekend. what do you feed the brine shrimp, if anything.

i have controlled the micro bubble problem to some degree. I cannot turn off the power head because the same pump feeds the filter. so instead of the pump blasting cross ways in the tank i retro-fitted a small drink bottle with holes cut in the bottom to the pumps tank outlet via a small hole...

Don't growl at me.. seeded my filter with a friends filter material..fish in cycle. numbers are still coming back flat 0's all round. Question i have is how to stop micro bubbles.? there is no visible particulate floating in the water, just teams with millions of micro bubbles.. do i turn off...
