Hey Chris! The DIY sounds like it`ll be great! Would like to see pictures in the future.
Don`t feel too bad I have no friends either.. Only in the real world (yes friends other than my fish ). lol
Bare in mind you risk stunting the growth of the fish..
Also, your tank is infront of a window. As much of a pain as it`d be you may want to move it if you start seeing algae.
Edit: I notice now that you have algae.
I didn't think it was impossible to cycle - thanks. This is what I remember being told. With a small number of fish - wouldn't it be just as easy to keep stable as a large aquarium?
ie. single betta in a 5gal.
I would recommend against buying any females that are extremely gravid. If they look like they're going to BURST - pick a different one. It can stress them out to transport and put them into a new tank. You run the risk of her never delivering.
By this I mean - she is pregnant, the babies are...
Happy you find it! :) The floor and behind your tank are the FIRST places you want to look. Bought a new common pleco about a two years ago.. It went missing, didn't think much of it.. Never appeared. UNTIL I moved to another city, moved the tank & stand and there it was, all mummified. :bawl...
Thanks BillD! It's a bit backdated (2010) so strange I've never heard of it before. Interesting though.
I think this is a feasible option. But it turns out we don't get to decide
I can understand that this rumour has been around for years - but to be told by a LFS is another thing -...
It was definitely the start of algae on the glass. As soon as I started scrubbing it off you could see it was actually green in large amounts. Put the light on a timer, got a moss ball and getting more plants in the future.
Thanks for the help!
