Looks like Cyanobacteria. Remove as much as possible manually then do a 50% water change, blackout the tank for 3 days, don't let ANY light in and no feeding the fish for the 3 days then remove the blackout and do another 50% water change.
Ever have any problems with power surges? Not sure where the ballasts are located but do they have enough ventilation for cooling and is there any water being splashed on them or condensing on them at night?
Can you be a bit more specific? I have a feeling I know what your getting at and even with that Color spectrum still plays a major role in plant growth not just "intensity". If wattage was the only factor then Incandescent would work just as well.
Thats a tough one. Might be ok because there will only be 60x36 area of the glass with no support from the water pressure. It also depends on how much water is behind it.
80"x25" Viewable and yes I probably could have gone taller even with .5" tempered glass, probably at least 30" viewable with no concern. Just as an example I once walked across some doors in my truck at work that were covered in cardboard sheets that keep the dust off to move some stuff around...
Thats not correct. What you just told him is that a 3K bulb will grow plants just as well as a 6700K bulb will. Plants need the full spectrum of light in order to grow properly. Sunlight at mid day is 5500K and 6700K at the equator with a clear sky at noon.
Gotta love DIY tanks. Best thing to so is keep things as simple as possible. Here is my 600G Plywood tank I built last year thats been up and running for 11 months now.
Ok I have an Idea on how to set up the lighting on my 600 for a planted 600! Just thought I'd get some opinions here. Tank Dimensions are 96Lx48wx30H I only plan on a few types of low maintenance US native plants like Vallisneria gigantea. Since I have such a large tank I know the WPG is out the...
