I have a 90 gallon reef ready tank. I am going to switch it from Reef to freshwater as soon as I get rid of my livestock, corals, clean and re-cycle.
I am thinking I want several / many fish as opposed to a few large ones. I'm also thinking I want active colorful fish. Can somebody offer some...
I am currently running a 90g reef ready tank, with a 30g sump. I find I'm having less and less time for upkeep.
I tried to search, but didn't really see anything regarding using a drilled tank for freshwater. Any reason not to? I;m used to tons of flow/water movement, this probably isn't...
Glass lids are counter productive. They limit gas exchange, cut light by their very nature and collect salt and algae, further limiting light penetration.
ATOs are nice , will keep salinity stable and provide a place to kalkwasser dose.
You will want 60 pounds of rock, probably closer to 90. Do some research. Get a stand. There is no moving it without draining. Do some research. 8 fish in 5 days is bad in an established tank, lets alone a new one. Do some research. No anemones for at least 6 months. You will need to invest in...
I would put in your main tank. Flow is almost always a good thing. Get your LFS to test for phosphates, or better yet get your own test kit for it.
I am thinking once you get your nitrates and phosphates under control your algae will go away. There's also a new product that hit the market within...
I would also watch a YouTube video on how to tune your skimmer. From your picture it looks like your bubble head is very low, while you're skimmate looks almost clear.
You also look seriously short on live rock. While one pound per gallon is nothing but a very general guideline it looks like you are running much much less than that. This may also be part of your nitrate problem.
