I have four corycatfish, two dwarf suckers, two gourami, four zebra danios and four tetras in a 40 gal tank. I don’t know where it came from either I have tried rinsing it off but maybe I didn’t rinse it good enough. I’m just worried they will harm the fish but they seem to be staying on the filter

I have these white specks growing on my filter any ideas as to what it could be? Im sort of a beginner and don’t know what could have caused this to grow on the filter? Should I change the filter? I’ve been told to keep the same filter just rinse to keep the beneficial bacteria..
