Thanks Doug! I'd say my budget for LED lights is in the $200 range. I do want to have corals, so would like to have some options with my lights down the road.

I live in a very unlevel house, so I cut a blue foamie (one of the cheap camping ones you get at camping stores or even Walmart) to be about 1" bigger than the footprint of the tank, and put that under the tank. I find it levels the tank out nicely.

I've had lots of good luck with small rasboras in a tank with a betta. I currently have emerald eyed rasboras in with a betta. I have no personal experience with tetras so can't comment. Good luck!

Did you check on the back of your filter intake tube? I found a "missing" guppy of mine stuck to it the other day (still alive).

If you're going to have a heater, Endler's livebearers (the pure strain are tinier than the ones crossed with guppies). I'm not 100% sure on the definition of nano, but they're pretty tiny <1"
