    I use instant ocean and filtered tap water. (I have a great filter but not RO) It has a ceramic filter, carbon filter, and UV component. The coral-vite also has calcium with all the other goodies too.

    Do you cure it before adding to an established tank? I have some live sand and lots of live rock. My tanks three years old. I would love to have more sand but not at the cost of cycling. Would I have to cure it in a seperate tank?

    I get that problem if I open up my air valve too far. The directions on mine say half a crank. Try turning it down a bit.
