- One twenty gallon tank with two common or fantail OLD goldfish . One biowheel filter and one 40 gallon whisper and one rated for 40 gallon tank air stone. I have to use the water from my tap that goes through a water softener, always have and have had these guys for 13 yrs. I have lost one with a bad popeye for 3 yrs just last july and one big one in another tank this past February. So sad, I am probably trying to hard to do what is best for the two i have left ,One keeps having floaty issues, at times is pretty stressed from it, more of a constipation problem as after he goes he is alot better, I have an arsenal of foods since the last ones died, they couldnt see so i was always feeding them little homemade balls of food that i would crush pellets and then roll into balls with a dab of water and some flaked food, they could find it alot easier then any other i would try. More about my tank, the gh is o , kh is 180plus ph is about 8 and ammonia , nitrite o, nitrate is 20
