I think of it in terms such as if I were a fish I would probably want to hide in something tall and I'd feel very insecure if there was nothing around me. It just isnt natural, but that's my opinion.
Please,be careful. Several years ago I had a nice size tank and added some great substrate and didnt know how to go about cleaning it and it did kill a bunch of my fish. All but crushyfish, he's a tough fish.Thanks
Talk about overthinking it, what about a larger tank with a friend. He was used to interacting with other fish and now he is alone. I to have a lone fish and I play with him daily with an aquarium algae cleaning magnet, it is like taking him for a walk. Every living thing needs interaction. Good...
I live in the basement so currently it just goes in sink or toilet but I used to throw water outside and I know it is good for plants. If you have plants the fertilizer is quite good for them. Give it a go!
Just use caution with substrate if you don't already know. I didn't realize back when I added it that you have to wash the dust away over and over before you add it to your tank. It was a nightmare I will never forget, I lost some beautiful fish...Don't do what I did...
