    Stocking Questions :)

Thats very understandable, and thats why I'm investing so much unpaid time into this store, is because of all of the fish stores around here that was the only one with a decently educated fish guy, so after spending as much money as I have at that store I'm not about to let the fish goto waste...

    Stocking Questions :)

Yah, I always investigate the fish on the net before I buy, so I take that same attitude with these fish, and most of the employee's are good about pointing out sized.

    Stocking Questions :)

40 inches, although most resources say 3 feet, and generally 2-2 1/2 in an aquarium setting.

    Stocking Questions :)

I wasn't refering to the catfish The biggest fish we sell is the clown knife, and the one I sold was going in a 200g and their max size is clearly marked on the tags so no mistake on how big they get for potential buyers.

    Stocking Questions :)

We've got a small variety of plants but nothing too fancy, not enough lighting and the supplier the place uses doesn't carry a lot. Yah unfortinuately its all on a shared water system which limits what I can get as well. I'm not too worried about the larger fish, the store's smack dab in the...

    Stocking Questions :)

Howdy, well I've still yet to be offically hired but I've pretty much parked myself in the store during free time to maintain the tanks and assist customers etc... Right now the tanks have the following (I've re-arranged a few and have yet to update the tanks) I also have a total of 4 of the...

    Fish laxative?

Use epsom salt, I can't remembe the exact dosage but it should be somewhere on the forums. Just give them a 10-15min Epsom salt bath and that acts as a very good laxative. I've seen it done on Angel fish a few times since they are prone to constipation.

One or two canister filters for a 55 gallon?

KISS :) Although personally on my 55 I have a Pengiun 330 for the biowheels and later on I added a Fluval 304, but the Penguin was running the system just fine before I added the extra flow. Mainly got the Fluval because I run peat in my system and its easier to manage media in canisters than...

Delimma Time! ;) Running a fish dept!

unfortunately the system they have here isn't that nice. Pretty much a big 5 foot container full of carbon that the water is filtered through and individual filters in each tank. I've got a lot of re-arranging to do though... they've got the Oscars and Cichlids kinda spread out... since I'm...

Delimma Time! ;) Running a fish dept!

Yah I never use chemicals in my tanks, its either crushed coral, driftwood or peat. That's pretty much my goal as far as sticking with the water supply in the area, no need to fight it and to be honest half or more of the people buying fish will never check the PH in their lifetime so I'll do...

Delimma Time! ;) Running a fish dept!

I agree, thats why I'm suggesting myself for doing it. I run my own company and work a night shift at another but yet I never get out of the house since I work via the internet, so if I get to deal with fish AND get my lazy ass outta the house all the better for me... The cute girls that work...

Delimma Time! ;) Running a fish dept!

Howdy, I have a question for the fish store owners and general opinions for everybody else. A little backdrop, I had finally found a pet store (Pet Supplies Plus) that had a knowledgable fish guy and decently healthy fish. So for a few months all was great. Then one day the fish guy disappears...

White stuff building up on my glass top hood

Get a brillo pad or something rough and scrub scrub scrub CLR works as well, its just mineral deposits from the water, and your right, it does block some of the light. CLR works but just make sure you rinse rinse rinse once your done.

    Freshwater Stingrays

Personally I don't think thats much of an excuse to get an animal just to give it away or swap it out when it gets bigger. They tend to have personalities as they grow, so if I were you i'd re-think why you want one, if its just because of the "cool" factor then please don't kill the fish.
