    Reef Salinity

    I'd stay at 1.025 or so. as long as it is constant. For those of you that think that 1.020-1023 will reduce the number of parasites, you would be incorrect. It has been proven that ick(the most common parasite that we all try to avoid) will live in a sg as low as 1.016 or maybe lower...

    Cant get my water clear to save my life

    With only 12 lbs of lr it will take longer for the water to clear. Especially if all of the substrate was changed at once. Don't worry, it will. Just clean out intake sponges frequently. :fadein:

    Nassirus snails spend 95% of their life under the sand. Mine only surface at feeding time. Therefore less succeptible to be harrassed for a new house. :evil:

    Maxi-jet powerhead

    pulling it apart and cleaning the impeller is the only maintenance I have ever had to do. If that dosen't work look into a replacement.

    I had a tank with dolomite substrate (it was the best new stuff in the late 80's) It looked like fw rock but white and kept the pH up. until I ditched the ugf, upgraded the skimmer, used a ro/di and switched to sand I had a problem
