Wow Brookster, that's some awesome stuff! When I clicked the link for the power head though, it looked entirely too powerful for what I've got. The fishbowl is only (an estimated) 2 gallons, so anyone I keep in there probably won't want his water churning around so much haha. But thank you for...
Got it! Fresh, you're so good to me. :) <3
Also, am I correct in believing that an air tube is what the little spout behind the big tube is for?
Figuring this out without my dad nearby is not easy haha
Hi everyone! It's me again, back with some questions about under gravel filters.
I'm wanting to set up a nice big fish bowl (10" tall/6" deep = 2 gallons?). I believe what I have for it is an under gravel filter, at least that's what someone said when I posted it before.
My questions are:

I had to choose between him and an iridescent white one at PetCo... Pick this one because when I popped them side by side, he flared up almost immediately. And then when he came home and was finally freed from that little cup and put into my four gallon..well my heart just swelled at him...
I love pictures! This is actually really helpful for someone like me.
The only thing I would suggest is a picture of what the final product is supposed to look like. If this is my first time, I'm not going to know what I'm supposed to have created and idk, what if I messed up and made poison...
I've found the newly built petcos to be far superior to older petsmarts. The PetCo on Lindbergh I. Florissant is brand spanking new, but I tend to frequent the PetCo near Hanley (next to where Macaroni Grill used to be) since I live nearby. They're really knowledgable for my needs so far. The...
I'm actually not really using any ferts! I have one Seachem root tab in there, but I broke it into a bunch of pieces and scattered them around the floor, since I didn't want to go overboard.
But the other thing I did was use mineralized topsoil after reading a bunch of aquascaping websites and...
The problem I was having with rocks is that I couldn't find any that would just sit there and be /heavy/, you know? There's not that much room between the air tube place and the wall. Trust me, I went digging for rocks in all my tanks looking haha
And no comment about the silicone. >_> ;)
First hand experience: DO NOT stick your head IN the tank while sealing! haha
Is it a major leak or a pinhole one? I had a pinhole leak and ran new silicone over the old silicone, making sure to clean it with acetone and touch glass on either side. Wherever it was sealed up perfectly and I'm...
(Two weeks later...)
Okay, so I had a different idea.
Silicone is waterproof right? Safe for Aqua use, right? What if I covered a bunch of metal weights in it?
So I did. Covered all the original nuts in silicone and then "disguised" it by packing gravel onto it.
Took forever because I did...
