Here is the stand without a door.
Here is a side shot of the tank... Thinking I need more shrimp and a couple more silver dollars.

Yes I built it from scratch... Turned out pretty good since I have no carpentry skills. Still need to finish door and put it on. Here is the link for the stand: http://www.city-data.com/forum/hobbies-recreation/462966-diy-aquarium-stand-lots-photos-first.html

So I'm not sure what happened to my original intro but hey here I am again. I originally had a 29 gallon hex tank with live plants and fish(obviously). I recently took that tank down because it was a pain to keep clean being so tall. I now have a 29 gallon rectangle tank. Custom built stand...
How much cleaning does pool filter sand need? Can I just add it to my tank, it has no water at this point? I am waiting on the weather to change so I can dig out my table saw to finish my stand.

Thanks for the info. Been using a HOT canister for a couple years with no sponge... Might make the investment.

Going to sheet it with 1/2" birch... Then stain it a dark chocolate color. It really doesn't take much skill, just patience!

My 29 gallon build slowly coming together. 113 LED multi-spectrum light is in the top box behind the tank. I will be using some parts off the 29 gallon hex to save a little cash.

No. It's flat against the surface. I have two other smaller spots on my columns. It doesn't effect water quality either.

That rock has been there for 3 years. I believe it's lava rock and I bought it at Petco. Before I placed it in my tank, I soaked the rock for 24 hours as I do with all my decorations.

I've got these red blobs growing in my tank and don't know what they are... Anyone have an idea what they are and how to treat them?
