    Sleeper Banded Goby Death Help?

But wouldn't they both be affected if it was a matter of not liking the water quality? And as for not doing a water change before, I assumed that the parameters would be fine, as I've had no issues with doing weekly changes before. And as a side note, my friend who used to buy from the same LFS...

    Sleeper Banded Goby Death Help?

Sure! It's a 55 gallon tank, been running about a year now. Parameters are: PH. 8.4 Salinity: 1.023 Ammonia: <.5 Nitrite: <.5 Nitrate: >100 (As I said, I am due for a water change) And the stocking is: 1 true percula clown 1 false percula clown 1 yellow tang 1 purple firefish goby 1 blue-green...

    Sleeper Banded Goby Death Help?

So, I bought two new saltwater fish yesterday. One was a 2 1/2" Six Line Wrasse. Some other guy was going to buy it, but let me take it instead. And today, day 2, he is doing great. The Yellow Tang was bullying a little initially, but today they're getting along great! The other fish was a...

    Blue Green Chromis Weird Lump?

So I turned on my tank lights today, and my Chromis had a mysterious large lump on his underside. Now, my tank is a 55 gallon, with 2 clowns, 1 purple firefish, 1 chromis, and 1 dragon goby. The parameters are fine. Anyone have any ideas what this could be? NOTE: The lump is just below his jaw...

    Weird Hermit Crab Behavior?

So I have 2 small (Less than 1 inch in length) red leg hermit crabs, and one medium (about 2 inches long) blue leg hermit crab. Today, when I turned my tank lights on, I noticed that all three were piled up in a crevice, the blue leg on top of the two red leg. Is this normal? They don't appear...

    Firefish Goby ATTACKING MATE??

Well, took back the aggressive orange firefish yesterday, and exchanged for a purple firefish. Here's hoping for better luck!

    Firefish Goby ATTACKING MATE??

So the LFS says it'll take back the aggressive one in exchange for store credit. I was thinking of getting a pair of purple firefish goby instead. Would that work?

    Firefish Goby ATTACKING MATE??

So, update on the two. The male is completely dominating the female. He's now started tearing up her back fins. Should I get a small 5-10 gallon tank and move the goby in there by herself? Or leave it be? Or try and return it to my LFS?

    First Tank? 75 or 40?

Personally, I love marineland and never have had an issue with them. As for a CUC, you should get, for a 40, three blue leg hermit crabs, and 3 snails of any combination. Also, a great consideration is mangrove shoot. Just pop a pair of them into your sump, and it'll help with nitrates. And...

    Firefish Goby ATTACKING MATE??

Another weird part: At night, the two will sleep in a corner of the tank, one on top of the other. It's like, "Oh, I'll attack you during the day, but guard you at night".

    Firefish Goby ATTACKING MATE??

When I picked them up, the LFS owner showed them to me, and of the four she had (the four firefish) these two were always near one another. Also, the supposed female is smaller and sleeker than the supposed male. And I believe odd numbers is for freshwater schooling fish, not saltwater pairs...

    Firefish Goby ATTACKING MATE??

So I bought an Orange Firefish goby last Thursday, and for the few days following they seemed happy and at home. Then, about two days ago, the male (I think...) began chasing and nipping its mate:nono:. And today, I noticed the female (still guessing) was missing the end of her dorsal fin...

    First Tank? 75 or 40?

IMO, Bigger is always better. But spending less is also good. Really, this comes down to how much you want to spend, both in time, and resources. A bigger tank will cost more in resources, but (in the long run) less time. A smaller tank takes less resources, but (again, in the long run) more...
